The brief
What makes Curtain Call unique is its unprecedented access to the wings and backstage areas of West End theatres during performances. Its growing collection of exclusive photography, audio and interviews from cast and technical crew provide a vivid insight into the world of theatre. Our brief was to create a theatre database to showcase both this photography and the profiles of people working in theatre.

The solution
On the Curtain Call website, theatre folk can create individual profiles, agents can manage talent and producers can promote shows. Cast, crew, creatives and musicians can search, get found and message other members – and theatre fans can fill their boots with stunning images and media not available anywhere else. We developed a bespoke October CMS that allows the client to add this exclusive content, protected by a PayPal subscription payment gateway plus an eCommerce store for purchasing the inaugural 408 page hardback Curtain Call annual.

Features
A PHP website with bespoke Content Management System and admin management console. eCommerce store, subscription membership payment and user dashboard.

Technology
Built using HTML5, CSS, Javascript/jQuery in PHP with a MySQL database.

Client's reaction
"We’ve been working with Drum since the idea for Curtain Call was conceived. They have been integral to the success and functionality of our website, as well as the design. Having been quite specific in our needs and plans for what we wanted to achieve, they have listened to us every step of the way and ensured that we moved forward in a truly collaborative nature. They are eager to please as well as having clear ideas as to what will work and look best - their intuition and insight have helped us create a site that is truly groundbreaking."

Environmental Policy

We recognise that our day to day operations inevitably impact on the environment in a number of ways and we work to reduce any potentially harmful effects of such activities whenever we can.

We have widely adopted a 'paperless' approach to business communications. Our web based IT systems substitute for paper messages and very often travel. We teleconference and video conference at every opportunity and we view conservation of resources and the environment as a basic business necessity.

Specifically, Drum will:

  • Operate a car sharing policy for all staff.
  • Encourage a cycle to work policy for all staff.
  • Ensure that our policies are implemented by all staff and help them understand the relevant aspects of the policy through guidelines, regular communications and action plans.
  • Promote the recycling of office materials and items purchased and use recycled materials wherever possible.
  • Minimise waste in operations and product development, and conserve resources through efficient use and planning.
  • Regard environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice as the minimum standards of environmental practice.
