What tips would you give to somebody who is looking to get started in digital media?
Be prepared to get involved in anything and everything you are asked to do, even making the coffee… we all have to start somewhere! Accept new challenges and don’t be afraid of them, welcome them with open arms and you will gain so much. Every skill learned is a new string to your bow.
What challenges does agency work bring? Do you think you’ve found a working environment that suits you?
Agency work brings many challenges, and I love tackling them head on! That’s one of the reasons I love my job, so I can challenge myself and learn new things as I go.
How did you get into digital? Was there a defining moment, and if so, how did it shape your role?
I started at Drum just over a year ago and it is my first proper job in digital. I always knew I was interested in design and media, and when I got the job it was my first exciting step into the world of digital!
What one word would you use to describe yourself?
What’s the one thing about you few people know?
I’m an aspiring yogi… (not the bear)
Describe a typical day in your childhood.
My sister and I used to re-enact movies, film them and I would edit them on good ol’ Windows Movie Maker. That’s probably where my interest in video production started! We also used to record our own radio station on the karaoke machine and make up dance routines on the trampoline. Good times.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be many different things when I was child. One thing I almost went into was make-up for film. I was really into gore and always wanted to be able to turn someone into a zombie!
If you could live in any other time, when might that be?
I always wished I was born a decade earlier so I could experience the 80s! I will always try to make an excuse to dress up in leg warmers and crimp my hair.
If you could be or do anything else – what?
Again – make up for film or theatre. I would still like to turn someone into a zombie.
What do you dislike most in others?
Dishonesty and laziness.
Where do you go for inspiration?
Vimeo, Dribbble, Pinterest and of course the yoga mat
If they made a movie of your life story… would it sell?
More than Star Wars.
What has been the happiest day of your life?
One evening springs to mind, in Cambodia on my travels. There was the most mental tropical storm I have ever seen. Myself and a couple of girls had just got off a ridiculously long bus ride and were trying to find somewhere to eat. We trekked around this town, shin-deep in rainwater, and discovered the most amazing local family run restaurant. We were welcomed like celebrities by these lovely Cambodians who cooked us some incredible food and the whole family joined us as we ate. Such a wonderful evening, meeting some awesome people I will most likely never see again.
What has been the saddest?
What’s one thing you have to keep stocked in your fridge?
Not sure about the fridge but I always have to have ice-cream in the freezer. Yum.
Do you have a pet?
Yes, I have a fluffball feline called Poppy.
What keeps you up at night?
Said fluffball feline.
