With many media related courses and colleges running in Surrey, Hampshire and Dorset, never mind the wealth of production companies, crew and creative talent, plus the great locations available, it was about time the South hosted an event to pull all these people together.
Film Expo South was set up by Gillian Tully, CEO and Founder, to do just that; to help aspiring film makers and professionals alike, to get together, share experiences, learn and be inspired about the industry we all work, or hope to work in.
Its first year looks to have been a success, attracting a wide variety of speakers from film, television and digital backgrounds, who spoke and shared their experiences. Companies and individuals demonstrated platforms to connect people and projects, kit hire houses displayed new kit and latest technology currently available on the market, and local council film offices were also present. A real cross section of people, companies, organisations and universities all networking and enjoying the experiences and interactions.
I visited from a television and digital point of view and my “thumbs up” items of the day were:
- The fantastic and busy networking wall
- The brilliant digital content speakers
- The coffee and chats!
- Drooling over the Arri Alexa Mini and some serious Drones
- The visiting Dalek
We are very much looking forward to Film Expo South 2017 and all that it may offer and perhaps next year it would be great to see a few more female faces from the TV, Film and Digital world! We know you are out there!
